Naruto Shippuden: Clash of Ninja Revolution III -- 22 May 2013, vs. Brett #07
Okay! I promise this is the end of these. I've procrastinated and oversaturated (and surely a bunch of other "- ated" along the way) and now the Clashing can come to an end... I'm beginning to see why I don't play this game particularly consistently, even after a good set... at least it makes a strong case for me needing to keep play sessions shorter and perhaps then they can be (relatively) more frequent.
Hopefully this means I can get myself back on track with a couple of other projects outstanding with... maybe three or so people waiting?

Match #1 -- Silent Shrine
Anko Mitarashi and Naruto Uzumaki (Brett)
vs.
Kisame Hoshigaki and Jiraiya (Ms. Mutou)
Huzzah! Now I get a chance to play around with Kisame's ridiculous "hax" of incredible range, chakra-draining strong attacks, and the insane prison-creating (and sidelong-attacking) Water Clone Jutsu. Oh, and Jiraiya is there... and instead of distracting me with the potential for Needle Jizo action, he just hangs back and adds his Dark Swamp hax to the mix. Yes!
Two characters who can use "super modes"? Pshaw!

Match #2 -- Forest at Night
Komachi and Hidan (Brett)
vs.
Kankuro and Bando (Ms. Mutou)
I feel like it SHOULD be easier to use Kankuro than Chiyo for the obvious reason that the character you control directly can actually attack properly...but if you think about it, this just means you have to keep track of three points of control at the same time. It took me the longest time to actually appreciate that I would need to orchestrate Kankuro's and Crow's movements. I consider it miraculous that I remember to use Black Ant at all, frankly.
---
Match #3 -- Leaf Village
Bando and Kabuto Yakushi (Brett)
vs.
Deidara and Gaara (Ms. Mutou)
You may notice a trend here... this is a celebration of all things Bando! ...or not... Actually, we've got two Roger Craig Smith characters in the same place... now all we need is Towa to balance things out!
As for the match itself, I have absolutely no idea how to buy myself some breathing room with either of these guys sometimes, and the actual "solutions" are to never let someone get close or to use certain moves that may or may not have occurred to me at the time... or maybe even hardly ever at all. Come to think of it, can you throw the chakra-armored Bando?
Anyway, all I wanted to do was get Gaara at mid-range so I could see what happens if Bando was forced to eat a Sand Tsunami... maybe best to take things one logical step at a time, though.
This does prove how "little" Bando actually has to do to maintain his armor as long as you're not frivolous about its applications. Attack more than you are attacked, and since your attacks interrupt others, that shouldn't be TOO difficult. Nice! (Painful!)

Match #4 -- Hidden Sand Village
Kabuto Yakushi and Baki (Brett)
vs.
Kiba Inuzuka and Bando (Ms. Mutou)
More Bando! ...it's okay, he'll take a break now. I'll admit that when I had to pick, choose, and rearrange for reasonable running times that I decided for some odd reason that he should hang out around himself a bit. Well, I guess having him change hands and show improved proficiency makes instructional sense... but then I can't really explain what the benefit is in going back to this again.
Baki's wind effects also get stuck again... I wonder if that's just a weird blind spot in the intersection of this particular jutsu with the Two Man Squad mode.

Match #5 -- Warehouse Road
Sakura Haruno and Kankuro (Brett)
vs.
Chiyo and Deidara (Ms. Mutou)
Now, see... the Bando thing was intentional, but the not-quite-as-excessive frequency of Kankuro and Deidara appearances aren't. No, the reason why this one stays should be fairly obvious: Chiyo's in it! ...because, you know... I mean... Brett doesn't like... ... ... yeah, you know ...no. Okay, I'm sorry.
On other thoughts, this battlefield got way too crowded! I already have fits of losing my focus while controlling a puppetmaster, since the camera will constantly adjust itself to accommodate all the moving objects on the field as appropriately as it can... but the game is pretty clearly set up to orient its normal vantage point according to the 2D plane directly between the player characters, so it's really not my fault, right?! Oh, and add Deidara popping in to deliver a sampling of his art, and you've got some really tricky action to track.
Oh, and managing to take out Sakura by pretty much exact count helps immensely to pare down the tactical complexity, but that was pretty much wholly accidental.

Match #6 -- Nine-Tailed Fox Room
Tsunade and Komachi (Brett)
vs.
Kakashi Hatake and Sai (Ms. Mutou)
Tsunade can't lose, even when she does lose; she's the Hokage! (The things ANBU ninja do for their village.)
---
Match #7 -- Chunin Exams Finals
Kakuzu and Hinata Hyuga (Brett)
vs.
Naruto Uzumaki and Kankuro (Ms. Mutou)
Just because you show up more often doesn't mean I have any competent idea how to use you, Kankuro.
