5This project is an example of this page coming full circle. We started with Uncharted and 3 months and 24 projects later, I was brought back to this incredible narrative arc.
Nathan Drake and Rafe Adler were originally voiced by Nolan North and Warren Kole. These two men put forward performances that brought the unbridled hate that these two characters have for each other, to life. With every passing moment of the story, we see moments of this bitter decade-long rivalry coming to light which climaxes in this final swordfight for the ages.
Uncharted 4 was the swan song for the series created by Naughty Dog Inc. and Amy Hennig, brought to its final story with Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley at the helm. I’ll say this time and time again, this game series brought me to the world of possibilities of performance capture and unprecedented storytelling in video games.
Nathan Drake fights for a way to save his and his brother’s life while Rafe remains caught up in his obsession to prove himself as the greatest treasure hunter of all time.
When I had to record these two characters, I knew that there had to be a clear distinction between them while staying true to the character and the feelings that are being conveyed in every passion-driven sentence. The final product required a lot of analysis and rediscovering what it meant to play these characters truthfully.
