Nearly Infinite Lives Glitch in Double Dragon II (NES)

There's a weird glitch in Double Dragon II: The Revenge for the NES that will set your lives counter to some value that's probably around 255. I'm guessing this is a lives underflow glitch, but either way it gives you more lives than you will need to beat the game.

In Mission 5 - The Forest of Illusion, you'll need to take fatal damage and lose your last life from the steam train thingy. As this happens, you'll need to land on the train's front treads as the train is moving backwards to the right (it may be possible in the other direction, but I'm not sure).

When your character is blinking out of existence, the treads will push your character off the platform, then catch him again - and this will happen multiple times most likely.

Often, this will cause your lives total to change, and you may even see weird symbols instead of numbers in your lives counter. I'm guessing this underflows your lives value to 255 or somewhere near it.
