Need For Speed: Most Wanted Playthrough (Final) Part 59 - Highway To Hell
When you go undercover, it's shocking how easily the lines between right and wrong can be blurred. The money, cars, women... they all come so easy when you rise from a nothing, to a something, in the criminal world. Your old life becomes meaningless, because you could never do the things you want to do, whenever you want to do them. Who would ever wanna go back to a life where bills and trivial bullshit rule their lives, after doing the things that you, or any other undercover cop, who's gone as deep as you, has done? But in the end, after all the smoke and mirrors have gone away, and you have to reveal who you really are, and what you really represent, what are you, then? Cop or criminal?
Moral ambiguity is what this game strives for, and it hella succeeds at achieving it! I have to admit, though, in the beginning, the game did start off kind of slow (especially during the lower sections of the blacklist), but once I got into it (with better cars that had better performance specs), I couldn't stop playing it. The constant push and pull to be either good, or bad, constantly weighed on me, especially when making the decisions to burn other cops that had gotten deep into the blacklist. Who would've ever thought a game about street racing, undercover cops, and their own personal struggles they each go through (some of which cause them to defect to the other side), would make for such a compelling gaming experience (Claps hands energetically).
- The only thing that's sad about this, is that it was never part of the game.
However, it was an enjoyable experience, for the most part. The only thing(s) that dragged it down, were the latter filler sections of the game (during the last few racing sections, where they just dragged on and on). And then there were the higher tiered cars that the game could use, and exploit, at any given time (especially through mid-tier races). The story in itself, could have been a bit better, but considering that this came out for the PS2, I;ll let it slide (after all, this game is a considered a classic in most gaming circles). Not much to say about it, other than what you hear on the commentary track from the other 50-something videos that belong to this series.
