Rode PSA1 Studio Arm review and how to set it up
In this video I'm doing an unboxing, setup and test of the Rode PSA1 Studio Arm.
The PSA1 is probably the highest quality and best build/construction of any similar type of microphone arm system around this price point. These studio arms are also known as scissor stands, table mount boom arms or suspension arms.
Typically used for the likes of radio studios, these types of arms are very good for all kinds of microphone positioning. I personally use these for pieces to camera and vlogging type stuff. Although they can be used for any scenarios where they will hold a microphone, either in shot if that's what's desired, for things like podcasting, or for positioning or booming a microphone out of the frame.
In the video I use my Sennhesier ME64 cardioid and a Neewer NW-410 with its super cardioid capsule, as examples of dialogue microphones being used with PSA1. The Neewer 410 was also being powered and pre-amplified by the Saramonic Smartrig.
The Neewer NW-410 was very kindly given to me by my YouTube Best Buddy, Ian Craig. So thank you to Ian for this awesome microphone which I will be doing a full review of soon.
Here is a link to Ian's YouTube channel, check it out as Ian does some great mic reviews and awesome travel/documentary type stuff.

Also during the first part of this video I was using the Clippy EM172 by Micbooster.com This is the best omni Lavalier you can buy without spending silly money. At the moment this microphone costs £31.50 Although this is not a cheap Lavalier, it has to be considered as huge value for money and way cheaper than similarly sounding high quality Lavaliers. This is one of those rare bits of kit that will become a 'Go To' item and something you'll never sell.
I will be doing a full review of the Clippy EM172 and also the Clippy EM184 very soon. In the mean time here are links to Micbooster.com, where you can buy all their Clippy range of Lavalier microphones.
