NES CHALLENGE - Puss N Boots in 16:25 [156/714]
2Fairly easy game, I think there are only 5 continues. The difficulty is a bit weird though; I didn't get to demonstrate it, but the last boss can be ridiculous to beat at the end. I remember playing this years ago and died multiple times in a row exhausting all continues. The boss gets 6 shots on the screen, but as soon as 1 leave, it can shoot again. The basic trick for Gruemon is to jump over the initial shots, go all the way to the right, shoot on the ground and jump to get its shots high in the air. The cat that starts on the left can slide all the way to the right and insta beat you. It gets 6 shots on the screen and as soon as 1 leaves, it shoots again. Well when its on top of you, it shoots like a turbo controller and you have no invincibility frames so you die in half a second. Thankfully that didn't happen this time. :) The real problem with this though is the 5-8 year old crowd. They can easily get to this ending, but then be turned off by losing so quickly. It's disappointing. Bosses typically have 3 powers and developers pick 2 - speed, durability, damage. Speed and durability is a weak attack, durability and damage is a slow tank, finally speed and damage is a glass cannon. This boss gets all 3.
Anyhoo, I'd place this game in the lower end of the library. Probably in the 500's or 600's. I don't think its one of the worst 100 games, but could very well be.
