Netease vs Blizzard Lawsuit Discussion
In an update to the Netease vs Blizzard lawsuit, the hearing date has been confirmed to take place on September 21. Before that does anyone have an idea what their issue? So here is the context, Around Nov 2022 Activation and Blizzard ended their 14-year deal. Basically a breakup, The two firms were unable to agree on renewal terms. This suspended the release of Blizzard games in China like Wow. Because of the bad breakup, NetEase is suing Blizzard Entertainment in a Shanghai court for violating the companies’ license agreements. They are suing for $42 million (300 million Yuan), compensation for the amount of money owed by Blizzard to them. So this will be heard on Sept 21, That's just part 1 because last May 2023. Blizzard Entertainment files a lawsuit against NetEase Games over an alleged copyright infringement resulting in unfair competition. It was alleged that NetEase’s game Nishuihan directly copied the intellectual property content of Blizzard’s World of Warcraft, I don't know what happened to this.
