Netflix Trying To Underpay MAPPA Animators For Requested Anime Projects
6,073It feels like Netflix has been in the spotlight a lot recently and all for the wrong reasons in the anime community / industry. Earlier today Animator Ippei Ichii went on record to state that Netflix is trying to pay MAPPA Employees 3,800 yen (US$34) per cut. The budget for TV series is between 3,800 to 7,000 yen, so if you accept that offer, the unit price for animators would go down. This basically means Netflix will think they can negotiate lower paying rate. On top of that we know MAPPA has started to crank up the animator workload in recent months and some animators have even quit. It reminds me of Studio Madhouse from the past... Its starting to make sense why Record of Ragnarok's anime was so bad.
