Yennefer of Vengerberg is one of the most complex characters throughout the Witcher series, in no small part due to how much of her background is left to the imagination in the books. So when the show decided to expand on her origin, it paved the way for misinterpretations and contradictions with the intent of the source material. And this has lead to a character that is to many unlikeable for all the wrong reasons, and feels at complete odds with what the character originally represented to many.

This is the second part of a five part series focused on understanding Netflix’s adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s fantasy saga.
