NEW Chrono Trigger Low Level Playthrough Part 21
Part 21: This. Is. War! Everything we've gone through and achieved is being challenged by the bosses in this part! First off, we have the final Lavos Spawn. A very special point to make is that our achievement of a lower level on Robo actually hurts us for how we're supposed to deal with this fight! Normally, he'd be able to survive a Dark Bomb. But with one less level, he can't, and we have to improvise on the spot! Surely enough, though, victory was achieved, and we move on to...the hardest boss in the game...
Zeal. Without spoiling anything, I can say that Zeal is harder than Lavos. Not because Lavos is easy, but because of Zeal's speed. Lavos is surely the second hardest fight in the game, and the finale part(s) will go over why. Slash was probably the third hardest and is quite similar to Zeal. The difference between Slash and Zeal, though, is that we can have a set rhythm with Slash. Queen Zeal herself is a walk in the park, because she only has single target attacks after she casts Hallation. The Mammon Machine is a longer fight, but methodically isn't a problem. But the Zeal fight is just insane.
Like Slash, Zeal has a couple cycle changes at specific HP breakpoints. In this video, you can see that I'm learning and trying to adapt to what's going on in each attempt. This culminates in finding out that in her final cycle, Zeal is simply faster than our characters. We miss a lot because of our low levels, and we still have 0 tabs used on our characters, so our speed and power are lacking. This is my longest upload for this collection to date, because the suffering must be seen. :D

If, while watching this, you have any questions, please ask! I try to talk about what I'm doing as it happens, but I'm sure I glanced over a few things.
Special thanks to big_kake for putting together the old guide on gamefaqs. It focuses on using tabs in the run, but can be used for the most part to mimic what I do in this playthrough. The guide was an immense help in going through this. https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/snes/563538-chrono-trigger/faqs/40169
