Our first impressions of the first 48 minutes of the brand new Pokémon Snap for the Nintendo Switch.

1999's Pokémon Snap for the Nintendo 64 was easily one of the most underappreciated games of its time. What started off as a concept based on Jack and the Beanstalk (seriously, look it up) quickly evolved into a Pokémon game like no other that placed an emphasis on capturing photos of Pokémon in their natural environment instead of battling and training. The result was one of the best photography games of all time and a hidden gem in the N64's library. Despite fans clamoring for a longer, more updated sequel to the cult classic Pokémon Snap, no such sequel ever saw the light of day....until now.

Developed by Bandai Namco and released in April of 2021, New Pokémon Snap serves as the long-awaited sequel to HAL Laboratory's original 1999 title. Featuring updated models, modern features and an expanded Pokédex, New Pokémon Snap has all the makings of the perfect Pokémon Snap sequel. But after such a long wait, the question on everyone's mind is simple: does New Pokémon Snap hold up; is it the sequel that PokéFans across the world have been searching for?
