Redemption's Guild is the new kid on the bock for VR RPG games, and it brought some sweet goodies. After playing this game for an hour, I was in love. It just brought me back to the retro 90s RPG gaming days. The vibes of that and World of Warcraft mixed together. For an early access game, it come with a lot of punch in the RPG elements and gameplay.
To start it has 5 different character classes to pick from. Each class has there own weapons set, and unique abilities. You do not have to pick one class to play. You can actually swap between classes in the Tavern (main hub) at any time. This way you build and grind up each class under one account and save file. This is awesome. I played rounds of the Arena with my knight, then went dungeon crawling with my rouge. You share the loot, skill points and money between all classes. So you can be playing as the Knight and score some sweet gear for your Rouge.
The leveling and progression system is sweet, and covers so many classic RPG areas. You level your character class, unlocking new skills, there is you account to level up, unlock abilities and in game content, Buy and sell gear, loot new gear. There are crystals to find that add to your stats. Its all there and nicely executed, you will want to put in the grind for sure, specially not being tied down to one character class.
The world you are immersed into is outstanding already on launch. You actually have three types of worlds to go into. There is Adventure mode, which is a large open world zones one the map. You will explore find chest, fight enemies, and do quests in this mode. Then there is the Labyrinth mode which is a dungeon crawler, where you play on a time limit and must score as much loot as possible and finish the dungeon in time. Then the final mode of play, the Arena. Here you can put your skills to the test and see how strong you really are, fighting hordes of enemies. Which ever mode you play, you will be leveling and progressing your character.
The controls are well done in VR and feel amazing. What was once a gamepad and menu selection screens in the past, has be transformed into VR controls that don't slow you down or break the games immersion. This game has been brilliantly been built from the ground up for VR. I only experience melee combat in the game, but it felt good. The weapons handled nicely and felt solid when swinging and contacting the enemy.
If you are an adventure RPG fan, struggling to find that sweet VR RPG game, you will want to look at this one. This game is going to be hot. As I said it gave me RPG vibes I have not felt since the 90s in wonderful VR. The game has new content coming and get frequent updates, the devs are listening and working hard on this one. This is one of my favorite VR RPG games, and it just came out. Its already better then titles that have been around for a year or longer and had polish and updates to them. I can not wait to see what the future holds for this game. Jump on this VR RPG wagon now and start your adventure of building up your character classes today.
