Next project: Restomod of a 2011 Zero XU
20My next project after my 7500w ebike is to restore and upgrade a Zero XU. This frame was stripped as a parts bike to basically bare bones when my friend picked it up. He moved out of state and couldn't take the bike with him, so he left the project to me. It's a 2011 frame that stock had something like only 5kw of power. it was meant as a town cruiser and grocery getter. Now though I plan on turning it into a stealthy and silent crotch rocket.
I plan on building it over the next 2 months or so using Nissan Leaf battery modules as a main power source for 64Ah of storage@ 52v - 3.3Kw hr. that should give the bike a range roughly of 150 miles at 35mph, 90 at freeway speeds. I should be looking at the 15kw range for power, and I'll be gearing the new chain drive for higher speed than stock; something like 160mph top end.
