This is video #104 in my playthrough of Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch. This video does not contain commentary. To view the commentary version, click here: http://youtu.be/02faMUxleS0

The party has retrieved the Moon Stone from the Vault of Tears on Shipwreck Shore. The next stone for Mornstar is in the northeastern section of the world.

Off the northeast coast of Autumnia, there is a ghost ship sailing around in circles (time index 2:58). Did I say ghost ship? Make that a ghost galleon! Fortunately, the party is spared from exploring this ship, unlike in The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass.

This ship is the Black Porpoise. As the party approaches it, Sindbah explains what it is. The captain sics one of his crewmen on the party.

Jetsam, the ne'er-do-well nautomaton, attacks the party (time index 5:04). This big robot is clearly weak to Storm-based attacks. Swaine should steal a Jumbo Stardrop from it near the start of the battle. It does have one nasty attack, Barrel Blast, which can do major damage to a single target. This battle is not to hard, but before it is over, be sure that everyone has decent HP.

When the barrel-bodied robo dodo has blown its top, the ghost ship captain appears in the bones (time index 7:19). Unfortunately, the captain is disinclined to acquiesce to Oliver's request for the stone. I was worried from this scene that the party would have to deal with the captain and several henchmen at once, but fortunately they only have to deal with Cap'n Crossbones himself (time index 11:12).

Cap'n Crossbones, the Scourge of the Seven Seas, has a Night Blade for Swaine to steal early in the battle. Among the captain's attacks is Hammock Hack, which deals minor damage, but it can also put the target to sleep, so be careful. It also has a very annoying attack called Plunder, a drain attack that restores his HP with HP from the target. Hopefully, you can interrupt Plunder with All-Out Attack. His worst attack damage-wise is Swashbuckler, a ranged attack.

As far as attacking this bonehead, he is weak against Fire- and Light-based damage. Oliver's Arrow of Light is quite useful, if you have enough MP restorative items to feed his habit. Stock up on Strong Coffees; they restore much more MP than Iced Coffees. I found the Healing Rain ability pretty useful for keeping the party healed.

If a Golden Glim drops, make sure to use it for Burning Heart or some other Fire-based move.

At Level 15, Mitey the Dynamite learns Slash 'n' Burn (time index 17:36). Might have been better if I'd had him learn this BEFORE the battle, but whatever.

In the scene after the battle (time index 18:19), the cap'n loses his head, and the party gets the red Sun Stone. In the scene, the party learns more about the captain and his skeleton crew as they were when they were alive.

As for the captain's disembodied dialogue, I can't control it, so if it goes by too quickly, you may want to pause the video.

After the scenes, the party recruits a Zomboatswain named Smee (time index 22:16). Naming it Swain would be just too confusing. :-)

The party also has a Jumbo Stardrop now that they can use to upgrade Lemahl from a Dumbelemur to a Aye-Aye Catcher (time index 25:16).

That leaves just one more stone, but it involves exploring a whole new area: the Winter Wonderlands in the northwest part of the world. Before heading there, they rest up at the convenient Waystone in the Deep Dark Wood. They also check with Old Father Oak to see if he has another reward for them, but no such luck.

Thanks for watching!
