Halberds! Eye-patches! Ghosts! Pensive elevator rides! Join me as I play through @halberdstudios9100 recent Metroidvania, the 90s anime-inspired Nine Years of Shadows! Nine Years of Shadows features beautiful pixel art, the classic Metroidvania mechanics we all know and love, and a hauntingly beautiful soundtrack by the LEGENDARY composers Michiru Yamane (Castlevania), Manami Matsumae (Mega Man), and Norihiko Hibino (Metal Gear Solid).
In this episode we forge forward into our quest to explore Talos. We encounter the revolting Leno, AKA "Dung Defender at Home," power up our electric elemental power, and begin exploring the Capra Cauldrons. We discover the edgy harpsichord player Sahara, and then we dance with Hekate's Illusion. After vanquishing our foe, we score the sweet Helios Armor, AKA "Varia Suit at Home!" We then explore some of the upper quarters of Talos and score the sweet Horn of Belial ability. This episode concludes as we enter the Portrait of Demise!
