For these options to appear, you need to hack a machine before it notices you. You can subjugate multiple machines to follow you around and fight; the max seems to be three. If you subjugate more after that, one of the ones you already have will detonate.

With remote control, you can play as a machine. They each have at least one melee attack, a jump (besides the floating ones of course), a backwards dodge, and some have a ranged attack as well. You can even hack other machines while remote controlling one! If you get tired of having to walk so slowly, just self-destruct or let an enemy kill you to go back to playing 9S.
