Hey everybody, Guilty here and we’re right back in it with NGB, Chapter 7, on Normal difficulty. More Shadows, more Ghuuls, one small fight with Black Spider ninja, a mid-chapter boss fight with a Hydracubus (ヒュドラキュブス), and the Great Demon Lord herself: Aruma (アルマ).

In Chapter 7, I fought 8 Shadows, 35 Ghuuls, and 3 Black Spider ninja. To refresh your memory, all the Shadows spawn with 600 points—that’s been determined to be their standard health value on this difficulty. Of the Ghuuls, 12 were archers, 12 were axe-types, and 11 were mace-types—which, fun fact, are called “flail” in the dot-XBE. 4 archers spawned with 1000 points; 8 spawned with 1200. All the axe zombies spawned at 1400 points. 9 mace zombies spawned at 1600 points; 2 spawned with 1800. And of the 3 Black Spider ninja, 2 spawned with 1000 points; the remaining ninja spawned with 800.

Hydracubus is back in chapter 7—or maybe there’s more than one. This guy starts off with greater health than the first Hydracubus we fought: 30 percent more, actually. The arms are still 1000 points each, 10 percent of the damage done to them is still shared with the body—and I noticed something peculiar. Using the windmill shuriken, I zeroed out the health of an arm, but was surprised to see it did not detach upon hitting zero. As a matter of fact, I could still target it and mete out fractional damage to the body as normal--it only broke off when I struck it with the Dragon Sword. So, that begged a bit of additional testing and, sure enough: the windmill shuriken won’t break off the arms. I even took myself up on that bet I made a few episodes back and used it almost exclusively to kill Hydracubus. The arms never broke and the body never transitioned to its vulnerable state.

Alma is rather straightforward. She doesn’t armor through half my shit like the zombies do. And another highlight in this episode is the painstaking meticulousness of attributing damage to multiple enemies when using Ice Storm. Seriously, who else does what I do?
