I can probably do much better if I put in the effort, but after 3 hours of this and only finishing like a handfull of times, I am kind of done with this challenge. Got a 26, just like I wanted, so ready to move on.

To get lower there's a number of things that can be done significantly faster.

Second area: try to get up the platforms whilst not letting go of the running button. Jump off the Hammer Bro in the upwards jump to land on the last platform before the big jump and bomb throw. This will put you under the platform while the bomb is still cooking.

Third area: Again, don't let go of running, you can skip through the Pokey's middle without getting hit. And draw the arrow asap.

Crap challenge to speedrun, a lot of difficult stuff that make it hard finishing a good run.
