Nintendo Classics: Top 58 Nintendo Entertainment System Games on Switch (According to Critics)
With everybody still celebrating the recent launch of the Switch 2, we’re going from system to system counting down the best and worst games on the Nintendo Classics app. To do this, we’re using the average scores from Electronic Gaming Monthly, GamePro, Video Games & Computer Entertainment, Mean Machines, Computer & Video Games, Nintendo Power and more classic magazines that reviewed these games when they first came out.
We’ve already looked at the top 49 Genesis games, the top 39 Game Boy games, the top 38 Nintendo 64 games and the top 22 Game Boy Advance games, so now it’s time to turn our attention to the Nintendo Entertainment System. The oldest Nintendo Classics console. This was the system that launched alongside the Nintendo Switch Online back in 2018, and Nintendo has uploaded a total 78 games to the service. Unfortunately, 20 of those games either came out before game reviews existed or were not covered by an English-language magazine. But even with 58 games, we still have a great list in store, including iconic platformers, cinematic adventures, early sports games, thrilling beat ‘em ups and even a few games that pushed the limits of the 8-bit hardware. Now you’re playing with power, because we’re counting down the top 58 Nintendo Entertainment System games on Nintendo Classics.
