The closure of Nintendo's 3DS and WiiU eShop on March 27, 2023, has left many fans and video game enthusiasts upset, as a large number of games will become unavailable for legal download. This move by Nintendo may result in the disappearance of many classic games, which has saddened the gaming community. As a response, The Completionist, a popular YouTuber, spent almost a year purchasing 866 Wii U games and 1547 3DS titles, accumulating a total of 1.2TB of data for the Wii U and 267GB for the 3DS. His total expenditure for this endeavor was $22,791, and he has donated everything he downloaded to the Video Game History Foundation. However, it is unclear what the future holds for these digital games.
