Nintendo VS Ori and the Blind Forest (and AM2R)
785Ori and the Blind Forest is finally coming to the Nintendo Switch.
This has taken longer than you might have imagined, as the developers behind Ori and the Blind Forest, Moon Studios, have been trying to get a game onto the Switch since 2016 - back when the console was called the Nintendo NX and nobody even knew what it did.
This is a tale of Nintendo being unwilling to play ball with both independent developers and with Microsoft, until Microsoft ended up burying the hatchet and forming a strong enough relationship with Nintendo to finally get Ori and the Blind Forest on the Switch.
It's also the story of Another Metroid 2 Remake (known by fans as AM2R) and how a solo hobbyist developer was almost crushed by Nintendo over copyright infringement over his fan game, only to be saved by Moon Studios after they too were given the cold shoulder by Nintendo.
