If you’ve seen Detective Pikachu (as many people have by this point) and you loved its unique spin on the Pokémon world, you have RJ Palmer to thank for it.

We always love stories of fans who get the chance to live their dreams, and RJ is one such hero. He started several years ago drawing realistic Pokemon fan art in his spare time, before the production designer for Detective Pikachu got in touch and offered him a job working on concept art for the film.

It just goes to show that no artistic work is wasted, and that fan art can open more doors than you might think.
