Nintendo's been in the news quite a bit lately, but for a reason that’s got fans a little frustrated.

Nintendo recently released a music streaming app, exclusive to Nintendo Switch Online members, featuring classic soundtracks from their iconic games. It’s a huge deal for fans who’ve been wanting a way to enjoy these nostalgic tunes officially. However, as amazing as this sounds, Nintendo has caught some criticism for not crediting the composers and arrangers of these tracks.

Here’s the scoop: if you check the track information, you’ll only see the track’s title, the game it’s from, and a copyright tag. No mention of the composers or arrangers behind these iconic sounds. Many fans, including us, feel that this is a missed opportunity to honor the creative talent that made these classics memorable. If someone took the time to compose, arrange, and create a unique sound for a game, they deserve recognition for it.

Now, to be fair, some speculate that Nintendo might be planning to add credits in a future update. Since this app is new, it’s possible that they’re still tweaking the experience. But considering the importance of recognizing talent, fans expected that such a feature would be in place from day one.

On the upside, Nintendo has promised ongoing updates to the app’s music library. Recently, they added songs from Super Mario Bros Wonder, and it looks like more tracks from games like Wii Sports, The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker and Super Mario 64 could be on the way. This is definitely something to look forward to, and it seems they’re keeping their word about expanding the collection over time.

All in all, we hope Nintendo will also follow up on the missing credits to give these talented artists the recognition they deserve. It’s especially important coming from a major company with a dedicated fanbase that values creativity.
