I still have traumatic flashbacks of trying to pick up a PS5 and Xbox Series X back when they first launched. It seemed like the literal only way to get your hands on one was to buy one from a scalper for at least twice the price. Well, Nintendo is set to launch a new console in the near future, and you already know that scalpers are going to try to swoop in and buy up all the stock. Fortunately, Nintendo has a plan to avoid this from happening with the Switch’s successor.

In a recent shareholder’s meeting, the president of Nintendo revealed their strategy, and it’s probably the most simple thing they can do, but I’m not so convinced it's going to 100% work. Their plan is just to make a whole lot of consoles. The reasoning behind it is that, theoretically, there’s no incentive for scalpers to buy and resell consoles if there isn’t a shortage of them.

One of the main reasons that PS5s and Xbox Series consoles were so hard to get was that they literally couldn’t make very many, because of the semiconductor shortages during the pandemic. Now, that situation has more or less cleared up, and Nintendo doesn’t think they’ll have a problem making an abundance of these new consoles.

If they’re able to pull it off, I think it will definitely help, but I still think that scalpers will still try and do whatever they can to make a few bucks off of the hype that’s going to be generated by this console. What I’d like Nintendo to do would be something sort of like what we’ve seen Valve do with the steam deck. Basically, I think they should let customers with an established Nintendo account be able to purchase a console directly from Nintendo. That way, when the
