Playthrough | Part 1: The Battle of Hitokoto Slope
My YouTube channel isn't always kids' stuff like Mario, Sonic, Megaman, etc. I do things that seem to alienate my viewership. This is one of them. Several years ago, I did a playthrough of Nioh. That game was a hell of a ride. A few years later, I did the prequel/sequel Nioh 2, and I enjoyed it so much. But recently, during Sony's State of Play, they made this announcement. Nioh 3. I have no words to express how hyped I am for this. And considering that I'm a sucker for these games, yep. I'm hyped. Very hyped. I welcome you all to the Nioh 3 Alpha Demo.
Like with Nioh 2, you can create your own character. However, they replace Gender with Body Type. Stupid. Let's continue. Unlike Nioh 1 and 2, Nioh 3 is entirely open world. You still take part in missions but after missions, you can explore. You can take down enemies, find treasure, the works. But completing some side missions in the open world will level up your exploration. Leveling it up will provide benefits and you'll need them if you want to survive. Trust me.
We cover the mission, The Battle of Hitokoto Slope. In the case of the demo, it's a tutorial and let me tell you, it was hard to get back into it. Fortunately, I was able to manage and reach the end. Nioh 3 also introduces us to Style Shift & Burst Break. Style Shift allows you to switch between Samurai and Ninja Style. Samurai is all on offense while Ninja is more evasion and magic. Burst Break allows you to cancel the enemy's attacks if timed right. It will take time to get used to though. At the end, you face off against Yamagata Masakage. You'll need to use Burst Break to make sure you have the advantage. It's a tough fight but not impossible.
After the battle, you meet with Honda Tadakatsu who wants us to help. We accept without hesitation. We also obtain the spirit Shin-Roku. This leads to The Hamamatsu Incident. Our job is to meet with Honda Tadakatsu but getting there will not be easy. It's here we are introduced to the open world of Nioh 3. And I'll have a lot to discuss about it when it happens in Part 2: Explore the Totomi Province.
