Written Review:
As a viewer of season one and two of Spice and Wolf I really like this book, due to the fact that it has a story that the anime didn’t cover. Holo and Kraft arrive in Tereo to find out more information about Holo’s history due to what Diana told them. I am actually surprised that they didn’t include this in the anime, since it’s a pretty import part of the longer tale and hints at some events that may happen in the future.
This time around we get to see a smaller city than the ones they have been to so far, and has its own unique feel to it. They don’t travel as much in this one, so the description of this town takes precedence over roads so I feel like even though it’s a small city it feels bigger due to this.
The good editing and character dialogue continues with this volume of the book. They still have drawings in this as well, but it feels like it may be less than previous books. Also, like previous books no action really takes place. Instead, we have town drama and Holo and Kraft helping with a problem they haven’t started for once.
With books three and five taking place in the second season of the anime, this is good for people to read that want to know more about Spice and Wolf should pick this up, even if they don’t want to read the other books due to the same story(Even though they are worth reading). If anything they hint at in the book happens in the future, then the story might just get some crazy twists down the road.
