No Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 4 on iPhone! Apple Wins Battle vs Epic, Bans Future Fortnite Updates
Apple has defeated Epic! The Epic vs Apple case has found a mid-point conclusion: Fortnite will not receive any further updates on iOS! Starting with Chapter 2 Season 4, Apple users will be left behind. They will stay back on Chapter 2 Season 3, while everybody else moves on. However, the Unreal Engine will NOT be banned on the Apple Store - as per court ruling.
For Fortnite Mobile that means: No more new content, no new battle pass, no nothing for Apple users, who can now only play amongst themselves on iPhone and iPad. While Fortnite is now officially banned from iOS, the Unreal Engine remains available on the Apple Store, so Epic only lost half the battle. Still, this is a huge loss for Fortnite fans on iOS, as they will not get to enjoy the upcoming Chapter 2 Season 4 update that is set to include a lot of Marvel content. On Android, Fortnite is still banned from the Play Store, but the game is still playable - and gets updates - on Android devices.
Maybe Fortnite will return to iOS if Apple and Epic resolve their beef, but for now, Apple users will have to say goodbye to Fortnite on August 27th when the Chapter 2 Season 4 Update goes live.
