No Spyro Announced at Activision's Livestream (And It was a Total Disaster. Read description)
I feel I didn't do the best job explaining some stuff in this video since my thoughts weren't really in order, soooo I'll explain more clearly what happened here.
Kevin, one of the two people who appeared in the stream, previously teased on a livestream that something would be announced near the end of March. Since there was so much evidence lining up for a March reveal of the Spyro trilogy remake, naturally the hype machine went out of control and tons and tons of people expected it to be the big reveal at this stream, which was originally planned for yesterday (meaning we all waited an extra day for basically nothing! Yay!). There were also many people who thought it would be the MW2 Remastered announcement. Well, in the end, neither of these things got announced and both fanbases basically got the shaft, because the "big announcement" was that there was "no big announcement" and it was just COD WW2 DLC. Yup.
So in the end, all we got from this livestream was Kevin and his friend playing some Crash 1, 2 and 3. His friend had to leave early in the stream, leaving Kevin alone to play the game by himself, and this is where it truly cascaded downhill. Both of them were utterly terrible at the game, dying many times on the early levels, and once his friend had left, roughly 30-35 minutes of the remaining stream time was spent with the game paused while Kevin answered random questions from what I assume to be Twitter or something. Probably not the Twitch chat because that...well...I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole.
So in the end, all we got was a boring stream with awful gameplay, with half the time spent with the game paused, no Spyro announcement, and a motherload of disappointment all around from Spyro and COD fans alike. Truly a spectacular display of utter failure. And much of it could have been avoided if Kevin had simply clarified his points and stated that there wasn't going to be any big announcement, rather than allowing the hype machine to build and build over the course of the past several days, but no, he waits all the way until the stream starts to drop that bombshell on everyone. His carelessness is not going to reflect good on Activision.
But, we all make mistakes. I don't want this guy to lose his job or anything, but he needs to realize that he REALLY messed up. Big time. Anyway, that's about it. So there's no Spyro for the forseeable future...but it doesn't mean there never will be. We still have E3. but let's keep the hype in check.
Also, if you want to see the stream for yourself to see how awful it really was, and suffer along with us in real time thanks to the chat replay, go check out Canadian Guy Eh's stream and reaction to the event: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gXQgLw_IGW0
