Normie tries to save GoodSprings in Fallout New Vegas
Aimee’s Courier stood outside the Prospector Saloon, the neon sign buzzing faintly as Blue Moon drifted out of her Pip-Boy radio. She tightened her grip on the varmint rifle Sunny Smiles had given her, determined to keep Ringo alive and drive Joe Cobb and the Powder Gangers back to the NCR Correctional Facility where they belonged. Leroy leaned over her shoulder and told her she should forget Goodsprings altogether and sprint straight to New Vegas to gamble at the Tops, maybe even “join up with Benny” since, according to him, “he’s obviously the main character.” Emily, sipping soda like it was Sunset Sarsaparilla, swore that siding with the Legion would unlock a secret cutscene with Mr. New Vegas himself crooning *Ain’t That a Kick in the Head*. Aimee ignored them both, crouching by Trudy’s bar while Easy Pete shuffled out with his stash of dynamite.
As the Powder Gangers charged from the dusty road near the Goodsprings gas station, Leroy advised her to toss dynamite directly at Chet “because shopkeepers drop the best loot.” Emily added that she should aim for the Brahmin by the saloon to “trigger a hidden quest called Moo-ve Over Mojave,” which Aimee knew sounded suspiciously fake. Doc Mitchell ambled by shouting “Don’t blame me if you die out here, courier,” while the Courier’s Pip-Boy buzzed with low health warnings and Big Iron queued up on the radio. Leroy was laughing, yelling that she should’ve dumped her skill points into Energy Weapons and gone hunting for a Gauss Rifle in Freeside instead. Emily insisted she run south through Quarry Junction—“totally safe, Deathclaws don’t spawn until level 20”—as Aimee desperately V.A.T.S.-locked onto a Powder Ganger with 4% accuracy.
When the last settler fell, Ringo’s body sprawled beside the saloon, “Quest Failed” flashed across the screen, and Johnny Guitar played mockingly through the static. Leroy clapped, telling Aimee that if she had just gone to Camp McCarran to grab Boone early, Goodsprings wouldn’t have mattered. Emily smugly recommended heading straight to Cottonwood Cove to “get the Legion ending out of the way” before worrying about the NCR. Aimee tossed the controller down, laughing despite herself, already planning to reload before the Goodsprings showdown. This time, she swore she’d ignore their terrible advice, team up with Sunny Smiles properly, and make sure Joe Cobb’s gang would never leave the Mojave breathing. After all, as Mr. New Vegas always said between songs: “It’s a beautiful day in the Mojave—until someone gets shot.”
