NosTale is a free to play mmo released in 2006. It was developed by Entwell Co., Ltd. and published by Gameforge 4D GmbH, Entwell. Two new servers were later released on STEAM in 2017, a UK and a US server unique to STEAM.


Okay, so you might have noticed I had already created an character on the UK server before creating the SEG01 character, I created that a few years ago to try the game out then and clearly I didn't like the game then because I am low leveled.

So, creating a new character I really couldn't remember anything of this mmo so playing this on SEG01 was like playing a new mmo again. Starting the game up there clearly ain't much going on for character creation, two choices of hair styles and a few colors, which means nearly every person playing the game would look very similar.

Heading into game the thing that's most noticeable is the graphics, very bright and cartoon-like. the next thing i noticed was the lack of UI, it was all crammed down into a couple of buttons which I found really odd.

Upon accepting a quest I realised it was so primitive compared to the newer mmos of today, no auto routing, a weird marker pointing the way to the mark. The main map or mini-map don't mark quests so you are just relying on this red marker pointing your way. Another thing that was odd is the fact that when you finish a quest you have to click a reward button to claim the rewards which I found odd.

Along with the weird UI and quest system another thing that I really wasn't too sure on was the skills system, it's just really odd and unnecessarily confusing.

The music I found okay and the sound effects were fine also, I couldn't really comment on Skills sound effects as I only had 2 skills by the time I stopped recording and those I can't even remember them having sounds.

SO! would I recommend this mmo to anyone in 2020? absolutely not, the moment I seen how the navigation worked, quest system and skills system worked I took an instant disliking to the game, that for me made my mind up, if an mmo don't stand out to me within the first hour then it probably won't further in, especially if things I don't like happen very quickly.
