Not UT3 Online Multiplayer Gaming, At All, 12Apr2021
1Yes, this great Avermedia thing I use to capture UT3 with, along with Avermedia's RECentral, decided to crash and trash all my captured footage from friday night's UT3 session. So here's this instead of that. This is me fumbling around for a few minutes, trying to get the feel of Elite Dangerous Odyssey Alpha's take on deathmatch.
It's ok. But I obviously need to figure out how to read the HUD stuff, and also i need to get the mouse and keyboard controls straightened out a bit better. But it's not totally awful.
I should probably have added these notes to the video itself as part of the audio, but I didn't think of it at the time, and redoing this with added audio is far too much work.
Anyway, the other couple things I noticed after I already posted this were:
1) See that big round radar scope type thing in the upper left of the screen? it sometimes tells you when enemies are behind you. Wish I'd realized that when I was playing this. Will be keeping an eye on it from now on for sure
2) This whole deathmatch thing they have here, reminds me a lot of that old game Planetside 2. And I expect the fights will go about the same way, when live players are involved. Though on ED's behalf I can say, they at least haven't embraced the the "pay to win" marketing strategy, so there's that.
This is all i can say for now though. The rest is a complete mystery for sure.
