[Nova Drift] Annihilation Difficulty
8Really cool roguelike Asteroids game, it's structured like a vampire survivors style of game with upgrades and weapons evolutions but is a lot more focused on gameplay and you can basically die whenever even with a strong build. While it might look like a twinstick shooter, it is based on Asteroids movement, so you can only turn and thrust forward, this added degree of awkwardness definitely contributes to difficulty. I played with mouse as I found that a lot easier, but that has some issues with going the wrong direction when you're screen wrapping.
"Annihilation" is just the final challenge modifier, which requires all other challenges to be active and adds more enemies per wave. While this is a step up from the game normally, I still didn't find this too tough at least with a solid build. Even though this run didn't end up with any Super Mods, it still felt like a pretty viable build, it was both pretty tanky and could clean up most waves with a few sword swipes.
Certain weapons felt a lot better to me than others, and swords just felt great for how well they could tear through enemies and their bullets. On this run, I tried to go for a lot of hull damage resistance and general survivability, since I wanted to be up close to get sword hits in so inevitably would crash into enemies a ton. I want to shout out ally upgrades in general as well as Vortex weapon as well, those were my favorite builds to go for.
I wasn't really sure what to record for this game, as most of the achievements have you play in Endless mode so most runs inevitably end in death, so for this I just turned on all the challenge modifiers and went for a single loop.
