NTV | How to backup and restore games in Steam - The easy way
How to backup games in Steam so there is no need to re-download those files from the internet every time you format your computer - or something bad happened to it.
1. Launch Steam
2. Go to Library - Games
3. Right click the game that you wish to backup
4. Click Properties
5. Go to local files tab
6. Click on 'Browse local files'
7. Go up one level
8. Copy the game folder to your backup folder
9. Go up another level - to steamapps folder
10. Copy the .acf files that is relevant to the game
- check in notepad - to your backup folder
BACKUP DONE!
To restore
1. Download the game that you wish to restore - just a bit
2. Pause the download
3. Exit from Steam
4. Go to the folder which you choose to download to
eg. Program FIles x86/Steam
5. Find download folder
6. Delete all files in download folder
7. Go to steamapps folder
8. Copy your .acf backup file to steamapps, overwrite existing files
9. Go into common folder
10. Copy your game folder to common folder
11. Run Steam
12. Click play to install the game
RESTORATION DONE!
