Brothers
Part 3 of 4

Here is the showdown between Sasuke and Itachi, and it calls for nothing less than a boss fight. We've gone for a while without a boss, so this is a sight for sore eyes. Well, if you actually have sore eyes, you'd probably not like the flashes of light in this video. I mentioned Amaterasu and Susano'o in the previous video; here is where Itachi will employ those jutsus. Well, later on at least.

Here, you'll notice that Itachi also knows the Shadow Clone Jutsu that Naruto is most famous for using. He can only produce two or three clones at most, however; Naruto has chosen to specialize in the Shadow Clones and can make hundreds without seriously affecting his chakra. Itachi can also do a weird teleport thing with crows that's very annoying when you're up against a human player.

This boss fight has a feature present in NUNS 1 but nowhere else in this game, which is the Jutsu Clash. In NUNS 1, this could be done when any two Ninjutsu or Ultimate Jutsu hit each other, but here, it only applies to the Chakra Shuriken (Chakra Load, then Shuriken). Sasuke's is the Lightning Sword Transformation; Itachi's doesn't seem to have a name. Anyway, whenever you do Chakra Shuriken, the AI will also do it. Here, you must mash the X button until the meter goes all the way to the right; Itachi will take a lot of damage and get thrust back. Itachi is pretty tough otherwise, but you can just stand back and do Lightning Sword Transformation over and over until the second battle phase. But that's not quite as interesting. (Not quite as noticeable is that they teleport to the middle of the arena.)

Another interesting thing about this is the stage. You might have noticed most stages are large and circular. This one is rectangular, has some steps that can cause some attacks to miss, and also has a throne to hide behind. This, of course, flies in the face of a lot of fighting games and their Final Destination approaches, though 3-D fighters are more likely to have variations. I can imagine some people picking the Uchiha Hideout purely to evade attacks.

The second phase of the boss fight has Itachi standing in place, protected by Susano'o. Sometimes. However, the Susano'o's attacks can hit any part of the battlefield, making this one of the tougher boss fights. (The Kakuzu boss fight was tougher for me though.) All of the attacks can also either slip through or break Sasuke's blocks, so he can only evade. By the way, when you play as Itachi, his Awakened form is indeed the Susano'o, though not as big and Itachi can move. Still, his defense goes insane.

One last thing I'd like to mention about the boss battle that is not directly addressed in this video is the stars to unlock the Secret Factor. In all other boss battles (including the ones to come after this), you only need between 50% and 60% of the stars to get it. For instance, the last boss fight, against Kakuzu, requires 40 stars out of a possible 76. The boss fight against Itachi requires the most by far, with 30 stars out of 36 required. That's 86%, if you didn't want to do the math. I had to retry this boss battle for that reason; it's the only one I've failed to get all of the stars in.

So, Sasuke has killed Itachi. Now what? Here comes Tobi, who turns out to have survived the explosion. In the intro to this game, you may have noticed that Tobi has the Mangekyo Sharingan. (Go ahead. Take a look.) He is also from the Uchiha Clan, managed to survive the massacre, and joined the Akatsuki. Despite being that goofy comic relief, Tobi Uchiha has an agenda and has a point of view of the massacre he wants to share with Sasuke.

More on that in the next video.
