The rotation has returned to Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2. Yes, I am aware of Naruto Ultimate Ninja Impact having come out, which seems to use the same character models as this. It's a different genre of game though, but it seems to have boosted this game's popularity a bit along with it, it seems.

NUNS 2 has now been out for over a year, and CyberConnect2 is busy. The main thing they're working on is Asura's Wrath for Capcom, and they've borrowed the boss fight system from the Naruto Storm games.

Match #1
vs. crusinator123
Hinata, with Lars and Chiyo
vs.
Kankuro, with Temari and Gaara
Hmm, not very often I see someone with a BP that high pick Kankuro. Even more so in that they picked a themed team, the Sand Siblings. Normally, when someone wants to use a puppet master character, I see them pick Sasori. Sometimes Chiyo. Kankuro, however, is exceedingly rare. That alone is interesting; I've also never found one that put up so good of a fight before. (In other words, I was clobbered.) Also, what's a "Dojin"? I don't think I saw that rank in Naruto before.

Match #2
vs. I for an I 360
Suigetsu, with Asuma and Yamato
vs.
Neji, with Hidan and Pain
That's an unusual setup. Neji already has ways of keeping his opponents away, so having Pain as an assist is redundant. (And no, none of my opponents today picked random characters. It's just me.) Looks like I timed the grabs pretty well in this match--I prevented my opponent from launching some of those assist attacks, which I know are quite painful. On the other hand, Awakening always makes life harder for me, and Neji had the edge during then.

Match #3
vs. DealingStonera
Sasuke (Taka), with Shikamaru and Pain
vs.
Sasori, with Deidara and Itachi
Here's another theme team, though it's more common: Akatsuki. Sasori is partnered up with Deidara because they're both artists with different ideas on what great art is. I made an error with editing, so I apologize for the extremely fast loading screen. In contrast to Kankuro, Sasori is the strongest of the puppet masters in this game. The thing is that he's strictly long-range (whereas Kankuro actually has close-range options), so you have to stay as close to him as possible. Taka Sasuke's good with all ranges. (That's part of why you see him so much.)

And then we end in a ragequit. I'm 90% sure it's a ragequit due to the situation during the disconnecti on and how the connection was otherwise stable. This honestly doesn't happen often in this game, but it doesn't make it less annoying when it happens. This is an upside to recording these matches, by the way--they think they can disappear in a smoke ball like a ninja and pretend like it never happened. But the proof is in the pudding--this video.

Match #4
vs. I for an I 360
Minato, with Neji and Konan
vs.
Naruto (Sage), with Hidan and Kakuzu
Strange allies for Sage Naruto there. I must be hoenst here and say that I'm not used to using Minato. I see him everywhere and know how to deal with him, but when it comes to actually using him, I stumble. Nevertheless, I think this still makes for a fast-paced, exciting match. I can see I for an I 360's signature style of jumping a lot and using lots of shuriken, which is more evident in this than in the previous match where he used Neji.

Match #5
vs. MUSDANE77
Choji, with Naruto (Sage) and Lars
vs.
Itachi, with Naruto (Sage) and Kakuzu
Remember how in the previous NUNS 2 video, I said that I think I've figured out Choji? Well, it looks like MUSDANE77 is prepared to face Choji, as Itachi was able to dodge some of Choji's stronger moves. Some of them, at least. Due to Choji's slow speed and slow attacks, he's more based on reacting to the opponent than launching initiative attacks. The Awakening didn't help much for me this time, but it looks like I didn't need to stay in Awakened status.

Match #6
vs. MUSDANE77
Tobi, with Kakashi and Yamato
vs.
Itachi, with Kakuzu and Naruto (Sage)
Looks like MUSDANE77 is a strictly Itachi player, with even a fixed set of assists. I actually see a lot of players like this in NUNS 2, despite the game encouraging wide diversity of character usage. It looks like my opponent's style is heavy chakra usage, which works well against the less defensive Tobi. You'll notice a lot of Tobi's stronger attacks leave him unable to move for a moment. I do make the match closer later though, and ultimately, I didn't need Madara to get the victory.

Considering MUSDANE77 uses a fixed set of characters and the game makes it obvious I use random characters, I wonder if he sees me as some kind of jack-of-all-trades monster here. Incidentally, I get promoted from "Special Jonin Leader" to plain old "Jonin." What does a Special Jonin Leader do that makes one less remarkable than a striaght-up Jonin?
