12RTX 5080 Founders Edition review - The cooler is better and most probably the best FE design Nvidia ever built. Fans are relatively low pitched than 3070Ti FE which I have been using for 3+ years, mostly on undervolted to mitigate high temperature which didn't get me any problem and still runs just fine. But it used to get very hot even at 230-250 watt, let alone 290. For example, 3070 Ti FE needed 80% fan speed to stay between 70-75c at 250 watts, this 5080 FE however doesn't break a sweat to a point thermal is a non-issue at stock.
I did briefly try overclocking on RTX 5080 and spoiler alert, it's just good, tons of OC headroom and actually Mathes RTX 4090 in some scenarios. Planning a whole video on OC.
The 5080 GPU performance, well it's overkill for my current 1080p monitor and coming from 3070Ti which was not a slow GPU anyway and you can see in the video, the CONTROL benchmark shows approximately 131.03% performance uplift, on top that 8GB faster VRAM.
RTX 5080 is a fast Graphics Card, worlds 3rd most powerful consumer GPU but generational uplift is very narrow, and it didn't beat the 4090 unlike RTX 4080, which did beat RTX 3090 Ti by a good margin but it also MSRP'ed at $1200, which majority of people got to buy at or over $1500. RTX 5080 being $1000, 10% faster than 4080 SUPER is not bad at all if it is achievable at MSRP like Founders Edition.
The way OC plays out with all 5080s, if that was the native performance and close to 4090, narrative would be completely different.
