Before you can take on Mugen you'll have to have a rematch with Ritsu now stronger than ever.
He mostly uses stronger versions of his attacks from the start of the game and now has double the shields and probably 10 times the HP to scale him for endgame. I think the game wants you to feel bad for him but to be honest Ritsu is an asshat that did enough Heinous stuff throughout the game that I'm glad he died.

Anyways personal opinions aside I HIGHLY recommend heading back to the save point because next up is the fight with Mugen and I genuinely got stuck here. Up to this point the bulkiest boss was Vide Kaldena with 100,000 HP... Mugen has over 200,000 between the 3 phases. You don't want to refight Ritsu because the Mugen fight didn't go well so just go back and save now.
