Oculus Rift DK2 - Mouse Pitch Axis Trick for 3rd Party VR (VorpX, Vireio)
This is a very crude but effective trick to modify a mechanical mouse to only respond on the horizontal axis. I'll be using this trick myself for most of my 3rd party VR let's plays either using VorpX or Vireo, exclusively in games where the pitch axis is both bound to the mouse and the Oculus Rift DK2, which can give for some situationally confusing moments.
The trick should work for anyone who like me hates using gamepads for anything, and ultimately prefers to use the mouse. The catch? Just like with VorpX gamepad trick, the in-game pitch will sometimes drift, and you'll need to readjust it: Keep a second fully functional mouse plugged in and near you while playing, so you can use it to readjust your pitch when needed.
This clip was taken from an upcoming Let's Play series of Bioshock 1, which was the first time this modified mouse was tested out. The results are quite encouraging so far. I should be further using it for my new Shadow Warrior 2013 LP series as well as any other third party VR play I spawn in the near future.
