So..... The battery was going in my out of warranty Quest 2. It would charge to only 70%. A week later only to 60% and it kept getting worse. It would also drain a lot faster to where I would be lucky to get 30 minutes. Using an external pack (Bobo VR strap and battery) did not help much. It could not keep up with how fast the internal battery was draining. Quest 2 would shut off before the external battery got close to being empty.

So, I was forced to replace the battery myself. You can buy new replacement internal batteries on Ebay for about $30.

So, I was asked by facebook folks in Oculus groups to do a video on replacing the battery. Now DISCLAIMER! I am not a video PRO. I do not have Pro video equipment. I used my iPhone as best I could. So please don't complain!

Disclaimer #2. I am NOT responsible if you break your Quest 2 by following this video. It's for education purposes only. Proceed at your own risk!

What is this video? In this video I focused on just what it takes to replace the battery only. It's not a complete tear down video. There are a couple of those on Youtube and an iFixit web site page. I used those to figure out how to take the Q2 apart. In my video I do not show some of those steps as there is no need to repeat them. Thus, you should watch those and have the iFixit web site open as well when watching my video (links below). My video shows you the "Devil in the details". That is, I show you the details these other videos and iFixit page does not show you. AND unlike those other teardown videos that show removing the Processor heatsink and mother board, I focus on just what needs to be taken apart to replace the battery! You do NOT need to remove the heatsink and motherboard to replace the battery.

Finally realize, I TOO was learning how to do it as I was shooting this video. Thus there is some learning you see me doing in the video and I show those details. This makes the video quite long and I sometimes repeat myself. Again, please refrain from criticizing. If you can do it better, please do a video.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the video and it helps you replace your battery should you need to.

Links you will need. Again, I do not repeat some "easy" take apart steps shown in these videos below. So, use these as additional help.
