As the academic year comes to an end and University students finish their final exams, Officer Cadets have their Annual Summer Exercise. Training ranges in the UK are pretty full which is why other facilities are being used in Sennelager, Germany. The urban defence training area is usually used by British Forces Germany troops who are soon to be deployed out to Afghanistan. But for the 3rd year running now, Officer Cadets have been making the most of this excellent training facility in the summer months. The last 12 days have been busy for the cadets with marksmanship assessments, patrols and then finishing with a 5-day tactical exercise. The aim of the OTC is to develop the leadership potential of selected University students and raise awareness of the Army's ethos. From the success of this exercise there's certainly proof that the OTC is beneficial to those that join whether they continue with the Army or not.
