Nine years ago, an Atlanta-based trio called Migos made its debut with Quality Control Records. Not only did the group's success help usher in a new era of Trap music and ignited their label's dominant run in hip-hop. Now, amid rumors of the imminent break-up, Offset is pursuing legal action against his employer, alleging that they have violated an agreement that they made with him last year. The 30-year-old officially filed a lawsuit against Quality Control Records on Tuesday over claims that they reneged on a solo deal that was previously agreed upon between both sides. In the lawsuit, Offset also alleges that his employer has wrongfully taken credit for the Baby Keem album that he just released, Independent of their umbrella.
Although Offset is currently signed to Quality Control Records as a member of Migos, his current solo deal is with Motown Records. Therefore, he wants a judge to determine that QC does not own the rights to any music he has released by himself since January 2021.
