Old Man with a Headache #portrait #oilpainting
28This is kind of a jump back in time - I had painted this one thinking about life as a Dallas Cowboys fan. This was definitely my position after this past season, although it's not actually a self portrait. It certainly does express how I feel sometimes though! This piece is a relatively quick portrait study, obviously of a man with a headache. This was a fun way to continue to get more practice with color values but also hands. Looking back, it's definitely a portrait I'm still fond of purely from an art perspective (rather than a football fan's standpoint).
The long form/traditional youtube video I've linked is a discussion on painting fast to fit this hobby into the limited time I have available. I think this is a fairly common and relatable perspective! That mindset has certainly guided a lot of my painting habits.
