Old School Runescape Ep.173 - Song of the Elves Part 2
Welcome one and all to a grand adventure of mines on what many Brits here consider to be a classic MMORPG that brings forth fond and fun memories, where I'll be showcasing all sorts of moments in this most exciting commentated series of videos of the world of Gielinor created by Cambridge's own Jagex!
With the current ongoing sabotaging of Ardougne's own kingdom, disguised as one of the popular Knights of Ardougne for many an expert thief, we eventually build up enough notoriety in both the 'plagued' West Ardougne as well as the more pleasant eastern side of it, with many a citizen willing to fight alongside us against both the Mourners and the Knights & Paladins of Ardougne!
Of course, with this most action-packed scene being relatively early on in this Grandmaster quest, it's not actually hard at all, mainly checking the numbers and ensuring all opposing enemies are dead really! (About the hardest thing here is making sure your protection prayer doesn't run out whilst you're killing them and, even then, that really shouldn't be a problem if you're wearing armour to counter that!)
Still, once all is said and done, both the Mourners of West Ardougne vanquished and those Knights and Paladins in the castle over the east side of Ardougne cleared out, eventually the King that is Lathas is brought out to the people for justice and, just like that, he becomes no more as he's executed in that most gruesome medieval fashion and all! (Well that would be stretching it a tad, since normally their head is meant to come flying off, but I suspect Jagex wasn't TOO keen to introduce some grotesque violence for this kind of MMORPG, hence the usual maximum hit and killing off said NPC in one fell blow usually does the trick as far as cutscenes go)
After that comes some sneaky and cunning tactics by the ruling group of elves that is the Iorwerth clan (Funny how, before this quest came to be, the elves over at the Iorwerth Camp near by their capital Priffdinas used to just be called 'Elf Warriors/Rangers' as opposed to their more specific titles 'Iorwerth Warriors/Rangers', still I suppose they had to distinguish them from the ones at Lletya somehow!) leads us straight to said camp that I've personally been at a few times as part of grinding out some nasty slayer tasks involving 'culling' the Elvish population a tad bit, (truth be told, it's hardly the most exciting slayer task of the lot, but I suppose I have something of a virtue with putting up with mediocre slayer tasks for the most part!) where a tense discussion between them and, later on, the rebel elves arises, fun elvish politics and all!
Last but not least is getting something of a proper introduction to the rebel elves' main base that is Lletya (Seeing how we were introduced to it as part of Mourning's End Part 1 alongside some further messing around with it's sequel, but only now is it truly coming together as far as the overall narrative is concerned!) to speak with numerous NPCs, some new and others previously in the background and had little to do with anything beforehand but all with a fresh new 'paint' ala the new chatheads that Mod Gee so courteously provided us here with! (Although I do believe our 'partner' for this quest here in the form of Elena herself did previously have another new look to her that wasn't this one here, but a huge controversy surrounded that one and compromises had to be made between the reddit community for OSRS and Mod Gee herself, fun times!)
I do reckon the worst has yet to come but, for now, it's more or less the usual questing business that most have come to despise or dread, yet I personally feel it's something to enjoy if done in small stages here and there, as I have proven and it's why it's taken me SO long just to get here, but here we are at last anyhow!
In any case, I hope you enjoyed the video and any constructive comments or criticism is appreciated!
