Seriously, those old UI choices were spicy! Bring back the thick grey scroll bars, that ancient Excel look, fonts from the early 2000s word processors. That was peak performance. It looked like people actually cared about the things they made, and not just wanted to be "sleek and stylish." Sure, it was messy at times, but that added to the charm and friendliness of it all. Software back then wasn't about being the coolest software, it didn't have any ulterior motives. It was a design brought to life on finely sliced pieces of silicon, electrons roaring to life and creating something miraculous. Tiny fires blasting through the machine at lightning speed, all working together in a great orchestra to create a mirror of life. The old software had a soul, it had the fingerprints of it's creator on it. It wasn't a sterile environment to process a messy experiment in, it was a temporary home for a user to enjoy while they used that software.
