A number of injured service personnel have been chosen to carry the Olympic Torch around the UK.

The names of almost 8,000 people doing the relay have been released.

Among those chosen is a soldier who lost both his legs and his left arm in an explosion in Afghanistan.

Jack Otter was serving with 2 RIFLES when he was injured in the blast in September 2009.

Sergeant Rick Clement and Guardsman Dave Watson will both act as torchbearers in the north west.

Sergeant Clement of the 1st Battalion The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment lost both legs while Guardsman Watson of the 1st Battalion Scots Guards lost both legs and his right arm.

They will take part in the relay in Blackpool. Another of the torch bearers is George Medal holder Eric Smith. The oldest torchbearer will be Dinah Gould, who's 99.

Other military personnel chosen include Ian Ronald, a Royal Marine who was told he would never walk or talk again after developing a brain tumour.

An average of 115 torchbearers a day will carry the flame during the relay which takes place from 19th May to 27th July.
