In Minecraft, there are 30 or so effects in game. These effects are like buff or debuff on other video games. Some is beneficial, while some are... interesting. So interesting that you don't want to attain it, really. Most common debuff including Hunger and Poison, but there are some effects that's bit more difficult to acquire, like Mining Fatigue. There is only one way to obtain this... bad thing. And it blocks mining... sort of.
