After the 2nd Gertrude fight,you'll be controlling Jacques again. You'll have to do a bit more fighting ahead,then Jacques will end up boarding a flying machine into a snowy area. It's called Lake Biwa,and you'll find Samanosuke and Heihachi Honda here. For this area,you're gonna have to ride on top of floating ice platforms to get across the frozen lake. You'll need to find and release Fireflies along the way to change the direction you're going,otherwise your platform will take damage. Enemies can have them,or they'll be trapped in boxes. When the path diverges,head right for the better item,Secret Medicine. The left path leads to I think an Herb. When you reach land again,head inside the mansion here and the two heroes will be separated. In here,grab the Firefly switches and you'll open the various gates depending on the color. Open the blue doors and find a Firefly to release,which leads to the only yellow switch in this area. Quickly make it through the other blue door to get through the yellow door in time. Another save point here if you need it,then drop down and kill the 2 large demons below. You'll find the Oni Army Orb down here,and head for Azuchi Castle next.
