In the sewer dungeon, you need to get exactly 10 open valves to proceed, no more and no less. Unlike me, you should skip the first two switches so that you can get 10 open valves sooner.
Despite all that buildup, there's no boss battle at all, which is foreshadowed by the absence of healing orbs.
