This mission is the bane of many's existence, and mine too until I just started using LASM/LACM and nothing else on it. LACM in particular have amazing terrain following - if you can see the radar dish, it's dead. LASM is almost as good.

Experience has made me more positive on the mission now than when I first played it - so much so I dared go for full destruction (on S-rank time), and came oh so close. It's still objectively a not great mission, and the dead time section is a pity, but I enjoy it a good deal more now I can tame it. I can even flare the missiles sometimes! But of course that wouldn't happen on a video cap...
