Ori and the Blind Forest: Lets Play Part 2: Don't Forget to Save!
The first time I played Ori was good but by the end of this second session I can easily see why people have fallen in love with Ori. There really are a lot of similarities between Ori and Hollow knight!
Some of the enemies are fairly similar in their attack patterns and we even found a Dung Defender! One thing that is not the same is how saves work. In Hollow Knight you save when you get to a save point. As an old school gamer, I am use to that. With Ori you can put down a save market anywhere and almost any time. It is something that I keep forgetting to do because you have to use your blue crystal energy stuff. On the flip side you also need your blue energy crystal stuff for doors. I hate not having enough energy so I forget to save and it is tough. I do it to myself.
In this playthrough part 2 we start by chasing a mysterious creature that took a ball from the Water Tree. We shase that little thing down and make our way into the Ginso Tree. I like to think of it as a temple from Zelda but 2D rather than 3D. It was beautiful and a LOT of fun.
We pick up some REALLY cool abilities that change up the gameplay in a way that I have never seen before. This is where I really start to fall in love with the game. And then end ending of the tree!!! Get at me. The music, the art, the pacing! it was amazing to say the least. I hate to say it but Hollow Knight does not have anything that cinematic, bright, fast and just full.
There are a lot of things that I like about both games but it makes sense why people Love Ori so much and it is neck and neck with Hollow Knight for different reasons.
